Favourites: Lipsticks + Glosses

A series of favourites posts, starting with lippies as they seem to be the least work given it's 1am!

MAC Summer Shower - Part of the Fashion Flower collection last spring. It's basically a really sheer blue with blue/teal shimmer. Adds nothing but shimmer but I loves it.

MAC Fabby. It's a kind of mauve-y pink with shimmer. An odd colour really but very nice when on. Has a slightly frosted finish but nothing OTT.

MAC Watch Me Simmer - Released twice this year already, a bright pink coral.

MAC Costa Chic. My go to coral. Frosted finish, again nothing OTT. Coral perfection!

MAC Angel. This is my second tube of this, it's my go to pink.

MAC Oh, Oh, Oh. Looks really scary in the tube, but when worn it's a really nice muted purple-pink with gold shimmer.

MAC Whirls and Twirls - Last holiday collection. A really frosted barely there warm pink. Doesn't really add colour, just shimmer, but looks lovely in winter for frosted pink lips.

MAC Viva Glam Gaga. This pink is too blue on me, I know that, yet I still wear it purely because it's a Gaga. I actually have three of these, this one being the second tube I used. I have an unused tube that will remain unused!

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2, I also have three tubes of this (and yes, one will remain unused!). A medium nude, not too pink, not too yellow.

Illamasqua Apocolips. No, I don't wear this on a daily basis :P But it's teal and I love teal, so there!

Chanel Chance. Light yellow pink. Perfect for a "I can't be bothered" lip (plus, the perfume smells fab).

Dior Zinnia Red. I think this might be my perfect red. Medium dark, blue based. Nom.

Benefit *forgets name*. Basically just gold shimmer, nothing more. Lovely on it's own or layered.

Maybelline Cherry Pop. One of the new candy lipsticks. I swear, this smells EXACTLY like cherry lollies. The temptation to take a bite is just too much at times. It looks red but it actually comes out a shade of orange. At least on my hand, on lips it isn't as...odd.

MAC Strange Potion. Originally launched with Venomous Villians, re-launched with Surf Baby (which, to this day is still my favourite MAC collection). A slightly shimmery coral.

MAC Pink Lemonade. Pinky coral.

MAC Richer, Lusher. Pinky coral with barely-there white shimmer. Have you noticed that I love corals yet?

MAC Narcissus. A strangely beautiful semi-sheer medium purple.

MAC Pleasure Principal. Pink/teal glitter, no colour.

MAC *minds drawn a blank - will so need to update this in the morning*. Sheer pink with teal/pink sparkle.

Summer Shower, Fabby, Watch Me Simmer, Costa Chic, Angel, Oh Oh Oh, Whirls and Twirls, Viva Glam Gaga, Viva Glam Gaga 2

Illamasqua Apocalips,Chanel Chance, Dior Zinnia Red, Benefit *, Maybelline Cherry Pop

Strange Potion, Pink Lemonade, Richer Lusher, Narcissus, Pleasure Principal, *

OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps - Union Jacks!

These are CUTE. And very sparkly. And totally appropriate considering it's the Olympic closing ceremony tonight.

Never tried OPI wraps before, but I'm really impressed. They went on really easy, not finicky at all and didn't crease on the sides of the nail which is something I've experienced with different brands previously. I adore the designs on these - a lovely mash up of Union Jacks. I have high hopes for these lasting a few days since they're really thin and seem to mould really nicely with the free edge of the nail. I'll give them a day or two then pop on a top coat to see if I can get a few days extra wear from them. Not really much else to say about these bar they're fabulous!

FrontCover Cosmetics Pencils + Polish set swatches + review!

I was super excited when I saw this kit on the Sephora site - FrontCover is a brand I've never heard or come across before, and suprisingly they are a British brand. I immediately fell in love with it - a teal and chartreuse? Can't resist. This set consists of four pencils and four co-ordinating polishes. The pencils and polishes have the same name.

Pic heavy...post after the jump!

Uh Oh...I Hauled; Sephora Edition!

It's been a good while since I ordered from Sephora, and I was just browsing looking for polish as always, and came across a few things that caught my eye. I'm actually really excited about these products. I only recieved them today so haven't had the chance to have a proper play yet, but swatches/reviews will be up in the next few days!

Sephora Stackable Palettes

Frontcover Metallic Creams

Andrea Fulerton Colour - Daisy, Debbie and Eva

These are the first single polishes I've bought from AF, my previous purchases being the trio polishes. I have Daisy, Debbie and Eva.

Daisy is a bright clean yellow. The formula on this was a little thin and it pooled at my cuticle. This took three coats for full opacity and was overall a little disappointing. I think that's the story with most yellows though, it's a tough colour to crack.

Debbie is a warm midtone pink coral; opaque in two coats. Formula was a definite improvement on Daisy, wasn't runny, didnt pool or streak.

Eva is a dusty green teal. This is opaque in two coats. Again, formula was good on this one.

Union Jack Mani

This is a huge trend at the minute, thanks to the olympics. Women from pretty much every country are flying their flags on their nails, so I jumped on the bandwagon. Even Sky News ran a story on this nail art a few days ago!

I used two different sets of wraps from Kooky Nails for this - Union Jack Retro and Union Jack Collage. I love both of these. I've tried various wraps in the past and hated them - they came off after a matter of hours and were a serious pain to get on in the first place. Pleasantly suprised with these, got them on without any trouble and really love how the look. How long they last - we'll have to see! I did the rest of my nails with beads, mixing blue, red and white. I really love this mani. Not very practical, but quite pretty!

MAC Permanant lacquers - Mean & Green, Formidable and Spirit Of Truth

MAC have just released a 30-strong permanant collection of lacquers and these are the ones I've picked up (so far, of course...)

Mean & Green is a medium murky green base with bronze/pinky-purple shimmer. The shimmer shifts depending on the light; in the shade it's bronze, in direct light it's more pinky-purple. Formula was great. This was opaque in three coats for me, it's a little sheer but easily buildable. This first launched with MAC Venomous Villians.

Formidable is a purply-brown base with blue/teal shimmer. The shimmer seems to go purple-ish in the shade. Two coats would work perfectly fine, but I wanted a little extra depth, so opted for three. Again, the formula is wonderful. This was also part of Venomous Villians.

Spirit Of Truth is a beautiful, rich deep cobalt blue creme. I'm reluctant to call it a navy as for me navy is a touch darker with a little grey, so I'm calling it a dark cobalt! I cannot tell you how incredibly pretty this is. This was so nearly opaque in one, it was the tiniest bit sheer on my tips, though loading up my brush with more polish would make it a one-coater. I opted for two. Paaaahhhh, freaking love this. This launched with Wonder Woman.
I kind of think this looks like China Glaze First Mate, but haven't checked.

What I've done with all my MAC boxes...

I hoarde MAC special edition packaging. I really don't know why, but I do. I have a hard time parting with pretty much anything, and silly little cardboard boxes with pretty designs are no exception. For ages, I've had these stored in bags/boxes thinking of what to do with them. A few weeks ago I came across a frame I'd bought years ago, it had cheap shitty polystyrene cut outs in for photos and the word "love"...they got ripped out, and this is what I've done!

What'dya think?! :P
